What I learned after tracking every application source

I started recording whether each role came from a company website, LinkedIn, Indeed, a referral, recruiter outreach, Reddit, X, or my professional network. The source column seemed unimportant at first, but it quickly showed where stronger conversations were actually beginning. Company career pages and referrals produced fewer applications but better follow-up. Has anyone else changed their weekly strategy after reviewing source-level results?

After reviewing the first set, I added a weekly source report. I am not treating a high application count as success; I am comparing replies, interviews, and useful conversations by source before deciding where to spend the next week.

The key distinction so far is source quality versus source volume. I plan to keep both measures visible so one does not hide the other.
